Black men and mental health are two phrases not often used in the same sentence. However, blacks are 20% more likely to experience psychological distress than whites, black men between age 20-24 have the highest rate of suicide (therapyforblackmen.org), and untreated depression in black men often leads to substance abuse, homelessness, incarceration, and suicide (NIMHD Factsheet).
