Black men and mental health are two phrases not often used in the same sentence. However, blacks are 20% more likely to experience psychological distress than whites, black men between age 20-24 have the highest rate of suicide (therapyforblackmen.org), and untreated depression in black men often leads to substance abuse, homelessness, incarceration, and suicide (NIMHD Factsheet).

Join us as we discuss ways to improve our mental health and overall emotional well-being. In this Zoom seminar, we seek to expand the health and wellness series with an emphasis on de-stigmatizing mental illness for communities of color and Church folk. COVID19 has only intensified the mental/emotional instability that we brought into the pandemic as well as created new problems resulting from the crisis. Hear from Jonnie L. Wilson, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She is a woman of faith who has followed the call to ensure that her community has access to tools & life skills to renew our minds and live in abundance.
