Mothers of Men: Transitioning from Boys to Men 10/24/20

This is a conversation between mothers of men (M.O.M.s) about when to let go.

A tale of two adults. We are both are adults but we have different depths of adulthood. We have raised them, but have we prepared them? We taught them right from wrong but not to be critical thinkers. “Mothers of Men” will be a conversation between M.O.M.s about the difficulties of transitioning our relationships with them from boys to men. How do you know when to help and when to to let go? As we dive deeper, we’ll also reflect on our own parental shortcomings with our sons in the hopes of evolving our relationships and helping young mothers of sons to not make the same mistakes.

“Rebuilding Your Mind” Health & Wellness Seminar- Black men’s mental health 9/6/20 @ 3:00 pm via Zoom

You must pre-register for this free Zoom event.

Black men and mental health are two phrases not often used in the same sentence.  However, blacks are 20% more likely to experience psychological distress than whites, black men between age 20-24 have the highest rate of suicide (therapyforblackmen.org), and untreated depression in black men often leads to substance abuse, homelessness, incarceration, and suicide (NIMHD Factsheet).

“Renew Your Mind” Health & Wellness Seminar-Mental Health 10/4/20 3:00 p.m.

Join us as we discuss ways to improve our mental health and overall emotional well-being. In this Zoom seminar, we seek to expand the health and wellness series with an emphasis on de-stigmatizing mental illness for communities of color and Church folk. COVID19 has only intensified the mental/emotional instability that we brought into the pandemic as well as created new problems resulting from the crisis. Hear from Jonnie L. Wilson, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She is a woman of faith who has followed the call to ensure that her community has access to tools & life skills to renew our minds and live in abundance.

This event has been rescheduled from August 23 to October 4, @ 3pm. If you have already registered for the event originally scheduled in August, then you don’t need to do anything. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will join us in October.
